Pure Optimism

The title of my blog, "more simply and joyfully," is a shot of pure optimism and a statement of purpose.
More often than not, I find myself cynically evaluating the world, those around me and myself, but I would like to think and speak--to live--more simply and joyfully.

These words leapt off the page at me as I read a quote from Doris Janzen Longacre (found in an article for geez magazine), who was the editor of the More with Less cookbook. she wrote,

“We are looking for ways to live more simply and joyfully, ways that grow out of our tradition but take their shape from living faith and the demands of our hungry world.”

So I don't know how soon I'm going to tell anyone about this blog, but I guess that's the point, eventually. and I want to be held accountable to my new purpose, so I'm giving anyone who reads this the freedom to tell me when I'm getting too grey and ornery.
